Officers are on guard at a Florida middle school.

Police from different Metro Detroit cities surrounded Pontiac Middle School this morning after receiving reports of a bomb threat that first surfaced on Snapchat a couple days ago. In addition to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department, West Bloomfield Police and Port Huron Police are assisting in the investigation.

Officers were not only seen waiting inside police cars outside the school, but also making their way inside the building to ensure that everything is copacetic.

This all comes after a bomb threat on Snapchat on Wednesday alleged that the school would be targeted today. Canine units are also on school grounds.

This isn’t the first time police have recently made their rounds to schools in this area. Just a couple weeks ago, a 14-year-old girl reported that she had been assaulted by a 15-year-old boy in a secluded area at the high school. Last week, an officer chased four people out of a local school who were not students. One of those intruders had a gun.

One parent says, “You can’t take any threat as a prank anymore because you never know with schools getting shot up. Kids are doing crazy things now.”

Another parent says, “I think the school needs to take more action. I don’t know whether they need to have more metal detections or tighter security.”
