This trip comes amid impeachment inquiries House Democrats have pursued against the president.

As both Democrats and Republicans ramp up for the 2020 election, both President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence are making their way to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Pence will speak at the Rochester Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 128 at 10 a.m. Security is preparing for his visit, in which he’s expected to deliver a speech to veterans.

Pennsylvania is a critical state for President Trump to win to maintain his presidency in 2020. Beaver County, where Pence is speaking this morning, is an important region to try to secure a win.

Just this past summer, Trump visited the Shell cracker plant in Beaver County. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Trump discussed how his administration is for energy development, and criticized democrats for abandoning areas like Beaver County. However, some democrats say this isn’t true and add that the president has failed to deliver on promises related to jobs and healthcare.

Beaver County Republican Party Chair Jim Christiana told KDKA of their prospective visit. “We think it’s very important and I don’t think it’ll be the last that we see President Trump and Vice President Pence over the next several months.”

Beaver County Democratic Party Chair Terri Mitko told KDKA, “I think they need to spend time in Beaver County. You know, the president has made a lot of promises during his campaign back in 2016, and he’s broken them.”

As of this morning, crowds are already gathering outside the VFW Post 128 to listen to Pence’s speech. Trump is planning to be in Hershey outside the Giant Center at 7 p.m. Pence will make his way to Hershey later to campaign alongside Trump.
