Provo City Power crews have been working in the area all morning after a dump truck damaged 10 power poles.

This left some 243 houses without power. However, the latest update is that some trucks have left the area, which is a likely sign of progress.

Around 5 AM, crews posted an update saying they were trying their best to get to all the houses in the most efficient timespan possible. There are still 20 homes without power, but as the day passes, that number is quickly dwindling.

All of this started yesterday afternoon when a construction truck carrying asphalt knocked out power lines in Provo. The truck’s bed was up and caught a line, which snapped the power pole. Some people have been without power for 20 hours.

Fortunately, there were no mandatory evacuations. Crews say the lines have been grounded so there are no safety concerns with the downed lines. There were no injuries or casualties from this incident.

The city is estimating that the cost to fix all of this damage could be upwards of $250,000. Crews are working to replace the 10 poles and say that by the end of today, all of the poles should be replaced or repaired.
