A Neo-Nazi group has made its presence felt at San Diego State University.

Flyers and stickers were posted on campus right as students were arriving for their first week as an Aztec. While it was very upsetting for many, the white supremacist and Neo-Nazi group has been identified but news investigators did not want to announce the name so as not to give them any publicity.

A San Diego student sent in a picture of what they found near one of the lecture halls reading “Better dead than red.”

“You know, I would like to be surprised, but I can’t say that I am. It’s just the attitude of a lot of people and those kind of people are feeling more and more vocal these days,” said San Diego Student Ryan Hesse.

At first glance, it doesn’t have the traditional images associated with hate groups because it was meant to fly under the radar. However, it didn’t get past university officials. They say flyers and stickers from the white supremacy group were found throughout campus Thursday. Some were found at the Women’s Resource Center and Pride Center.

Staff found the stickers in the morning, and they’ve been removed. But you can see the residue left on the Pride Center’s door. Whoever put it there was determined as the front gate is locked at night.

“It seemed incredibly targeted, especially seeing as though they are probably safe spaces,” said one SDSU student.

“It’s almost like a warning sort of thing, like ‘This is not your safe space.’ It’s kind of disgusting,” said another student, Desiree Suffront.

The messages were put out during SDSU’s Welcome Week, as thousands of incoming students were moving into campus.

“I feel like it’s definitely planned,” said Suffront.

“New students, that’s not what they want to come into. That’s not what this school is all about,” said SDSU student Sydney Arthur.

Last year, the group spread its flyers and stickers around campus too.

One student said it still seemed to be talked about very lightly, as she believed many students were trying to not let it get to them.

The group has been known to pass out similar propaganda at other campuses across the country. SDSU say all the stickers and flyers have been removed. They are denouncing the group and their messages.
