Biden has multiple big names in his corner.

In spite of political uncertainty resulting from the riot at the US Capitol on January 6, the formal inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris is still scheduled to be held and broadcast on Wednesday, January 20. While the ceremony will be primarily virtual in the interest of COVID-19 safety, Biden and Harris will still be under guard by large quantities of National Guard troops currently on standby in Washington D.C.

In addition to the actual ceremony where Biden is sworn into the office of the President (which neither current President Donald Trump nor his family are planning on attending), the event will feature numerous performances and speeches from multiple prolific personalities from the entertainment industry and beyond. The headliner of the event will be singer/songwriter Lady Gaga, who frequently voiced her support for Biden during the Presidential race, as she personally performs the National Anthem.

Lady Gaga will be joined by a bevy of musical acts, including performances from Jennifer Lopez, Jon Bon Jovi, Demi Lovato, Justin Timberlake and Ant Clemons. Aside from the musical acts, the event will feature readings and speeches from National Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman, International Association of Firefighters Local 3920 in Fulton County, Georgia president Andrea Hall, Biden family friend and former Georgetown University president Father Leo J. O’Donovan, and Reverend Dr. Silvester Beaman from the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Wilmington, Delaware.

“They represent one clear picture of the grand diversity of our great nation and will help honor and celebrate the time-honored traditions of the presidential inauguration as President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris take the oath of office on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol,” inaugural committee CEO Tony Allen said of the participants in a statement. “They are also committed to the President-elect and the Vice-President-elect’s steadfast vision of a new chapter in our American story in which we are an America united in overcoming the deep divisions and challenges facing our people, unifying the country, and restoring the soul of our nation.”
