The passenger was believed to be contagious with COVID-19.

According to the Monroe County Health Department, a passenger on a flight from John F. Kennedy International Airport to Rochester, New York, over the weekend has self-isolated due to COVID-19 symptoms. It is believed that the passenger was already sick with the disease during the flight, and may have been contagious at the time. The Health Department has advised anyone who was on the flight or present in the Greater Rochester International Airport between 5:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m to be on the lookout for COVID-19 symptoms and to call their doctor immediately if any develop.

“With regard to reports of any Covid-19 exposure, we continue to follow all guidelines from the CDC and local health officials,” Delta Air Lines said in a statement to CNN. “The safety and health of our customers and crew remain our top priority.”

This incident follows several similar incidents involving coronavirus-infected travelers and air travel. Earlier this week, another Delta flight was held up before takeoff when a passenger received word that they had been exposed to the virus. For the plane’s safety, the passenger left the flight, and the plane was cleaned before takeoff. Last week, another traveler on a JetBlue flight received test results indicating he was positive for COVID-19, but did not inform the crew until the flight had already landed in West Palm Beach, Florida. In response to this, JetBlue banned the traveler from all future JetBlue flights.
