The voting system company is continuing its crusade against those that flung accusations at them.

Over the last several months, Dominion Voting Systems, the company that produces the various electronic equipment utilized in the 2020 election, has filed multiple large-scale lawsuits against several notable figures, including lawyers Sidney Powell and Rudy Giuliani, as well as MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell. All of these lawsuits have stemmed from the same source: unfounded assertions that Dominion somehow rigged their devices to steal the presidential election away from former President Donald Trump, assertions that have been repeatedly discredited and disproven by both government officials and independent experts. While Dominion has mostly gone after individual people so far, it’s now gearing up to throw the book at an entire news network.

Today, Dominion Voting Systems formally filed a lawsuit against right-wing news channel Fox News on the grounds of “orchestrated defamation.” Dominion is seeking $1.6 billion in damages from Fox for financial losses caused by their efforts to spread the election meddling rumors, as well as for death threats sent to their employees.

“The truth matters. Lies have consequences,” Dominion’s lawsuit reads. “Fox sold a false story of election fraud in order to serve its own commercial purposes, severely injuring Dominion in the process. If this case does not rise to the level of defamation by a broadcaster, then nothing does.”

In response to the lawsuit, a Fox News spokesperson said that the network “is proud of our 2020 election coverage, which stands in the highest tradition of American journalism, and will vigorously defend against this baseless lawsuit in court.”

This is the second election-related lawsuit that has come Fox’s way, as they were previously sued by election technology company Smartmatic back in February for $2.7 billion on similar grounds to Dominion’s case.
