Ghislaine Maxwell has been arrested as part of Jeffrey Epstein’s trafficking ring.

Since Jeffrey Epstein’s arrest and subsequent suicide last year, police have been pursuing various suspected accomplices to his illegal sex-trafficking scheme, in which girls as young as 14 years old were enticed to his various homes for acts of sexual abuse. One of the prime suspects is Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s longtime girlfriend and known accomplice. Maxwell has been on the run since Epstein’s arrest, but today, she was officially arrested in New Hampshire.

Maxwell has been charged with six counts of enticement and conspiracy to entice minors into illegal sexual acts, as well as two counts of perjury according to the newly unsealed federal indictment.

“In particular, from at least in or about 1994, up to an including at least in or about 1997, Maxwell assisted, facilitated, and contributed to Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse of minor girls by, among other things, helping Epstein to recruit, groom, and ultimately abuse victims known to Maxwell and Epstein to be under the age of 18,” the indictment reads.

Multiple women who claim to have been abused by Epstein and his ring have identified Maxwell by name. For her part, Maxwell has denied all charges against her, going as far as to call one of her accusers “a liar.” Maxwell will make her initial appearance at a New Hampshire court, though her charge will be carried out in the Southern District of New York. In lieu of Epstein himself, who cannot be questioned further due to his suicide, public consensus is that those involved with his ring, potentially including Maxwell and those she allegedly recruited to bring girls in for her, must be held responsible for Epstein’s actions in his stead.
