A brief addition will bridge the gap between releases.

Aside from its major revisions of the original game’s story, Final Fantasy 7 Remake surprised some fans at released when it didn’t cover the entirety of the original story. The next part of the story will be releasing as a separate game at an indeterminate point in the future. In the meantime, though, to coincide with the game’s porting to the PlayStation 5, Square Enix has developed mid-point story to bridge the gaps.

During Sony’s State of Play presentation on Thursday, it was announced that the PS5 port of Final Fantasy 7 Remake would be releasing on June 10 for $69.99. Aside from enhanced graphics thanks to the PS5’s higher specs, the port will also include some new difficulty settings and a photo mode. The highlight of this announcement, however, is Intergrade, an expansion for the game that places players in the role of the ninja Yuffie, who by this point in the game’s story has not met up with Cloud and the main party. As Yuffie will likely appear in her full capacity in the next part of the game, this expansion will give players some insight into what she was up to before she ran into Cloud and company outside of Midgar, while also giving a preview of her gameplay style.

Those who purchased the original game on the PlayStation 4 will be able to claim a free copy of the PS5 port. However, those who upgrade in this fashion will still need to pay a separate fee to receive the Intergrade content. Intergrade will also not be released for the PS4 version, so the only way to play it will be by upgrading or buying the entire game separately.
