One Florida mom is giving her all to ensure dance students can give their all.

She calls herself “just a mom”, but Kim Bolton has certainly made her mark when it comes to having an impact on the thousands of dancers at the Straz Center’s Pavel Conservatory in Florida. As reported by Tampa’s ABC affiliate, every year Bolton makes it a point to ensure that all of these dancers are fed. That also includes providing for the huge cast party for the Nutcracker.

“I’m just a mom. That’s what I say everywhere I go. I’m just a mom,” said Bolton. “It’s not just the kids working and the kids in class every day. It’s family sacrificing. We do come together as a family.”

Bolton has worked at the Patel for 15 years. She knows what aspects of “regular life” these dancers are sacrificing for their craft, which often includes their social lives and family lives. That’s why she deems it necessary to ensure that at the very least, these dance students are getting properly fed. While Bolton’s own children have participated in the program, she treats everyone like family.

She says it all got started when a simple request was made. “I think the first master class they needed help moving chairs and I said, ‘I’ll help.'”

That help has continued ever since. Every year, Bolton organizes dozens of volunteers and vendors.

Suzanne Livesay of the Patel Conservatory said, “When Kim has put her magic touch on something, people walk in and our completely blown away.”

“A lot of the kids don’t go to prom. They don’t get to go to football games. I think it gives the kids a sense of belonging,” said Bolton.
