The prolific actress has passed after a two-year battle with breast cancer.
Late Sunday night, it was reported that television and film star Kelly Preston had died from breast cancer. Her husband of 28 years, actor John Travolta, took to Instagram to announce the news and eulogize his late wife.
“It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer,” Travolta wrote. “She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many.”
“My family and I will forever be grateful to her doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center, all the medical centers that have helped, as well as her many friends and loved ones who have been by her side,” he continued. “Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered. I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while. But please know that I will feel your outpouring of love in the weeks and months ahead as we heal. All my love, JT.”
Preston had a lengthy and prolific career in the entertainment industry, appearing in several films with her husband. The two were married in 1991 while expecting their first child, Jett. Sadly, Jett Travolta passed in 2009 at age 16 from seizure. This death instigated a controversy in which an ambulance driver was accused of attempting to extort money from the celebrity couple by threatening to divulge sensitive information about their son.
Several other celebrities have commented on Preston’s passing. “I’m in absolute shock,” Josh Gad tweeted.” What a beautiful and amazing actress and person. So sad to hear of her passing at such a young age. My heart goes out to John Travolta and the entire family. What a loss. RIP #KellyPreston.”
“A beautiful lady. Inside and out. A crushing loss. Rest In Peace, Kelly Preston,” Holly Robinson Peete wrote.
In addition to Travolta, Preston is survived by two children: 20-year-old daughter Ella Bleu and 10-year-old son Benjamin.
