Several of Saget’s friends performed a memorial special at The Comedy Store.

When storied performer Bob Saget passed away in January, a group of his close friends, all performers and comedians, gathered together at The Comedy Store, a famous standup venue in West Hollywood, California, to memorialize their departed friend. The show featured appearances by a multitude of famous faces, including, but not limited to, Jim Carrey, John Stamos, Chris Rock, and John Mayer.

During a recent appearance on “Dystopia Tonight with John Poveromo,” Saget’s friend Mike Binder announced that he had filmed the performance, and Netflix offered to purchase it to be streamed as a standup special.

“It was a magical night,” Binder said. “And we filmed it. And I showed it to Netflix. I said ‘Look at this! Just look at 16 minutes of this.’ And Robbie Craw, the head of comedy at Netflix, he just said ‘This is remarkable.’ And they bought it as a special.”

The performance will be billed as a tribute to Bob Saget, and while a precise release date has not been set, Binder expects it to hit Netflix in early June. Prior to this release, the special will also be shown at the Netflix Is a Joke comedy film festival in May.

“It’s just an amazing special,” Binder said. “Music — Jackson Brown and John Mayer play this song, a version of ‘These Days’ together that’s just beautiful. And then everybody gets up and sings ‘A Dog Licked My Balls’ which was Bob’s closing song.”
