Another wave of stimulus checks may arrive in the next few weeks.

In an interview with Scripps’ Joe St. George, US President Donald Trump said that he is currently planning to release a second stimulus bill, with a second wave of stimulus checks for US citizens included.

“We will be doing another stimulus package. It’ll be very good, it’ll be very generous,” the President said.

When asked when this hypothetical package would be put into action, the President said “I think over the next, I think it’s going to be bi-partisan, I think it’s going to be over the couple of weeks, probably.”

When asked how much citizens should expect from a second check, the President simply said “You’ll find out about it. You’ll find out.”

Despite Trump’s enthusiasm, this hypothetical second bill has not yet been confirmed by congress. Multiple republican legislators have spoken out against the notion of a second stimulus package as doing so would be incredibly costly to the US economy. Others have also added that they do not like the notion of paying US citizens not to work, offering additional criticism against the unemployment benefits offered by the CARE Act. Democratic legislators are more open to the idea of another wave of checks, but without a majority, they would not be able to pass one without bi-partisan support.

According to Trump’s advisors, a second package could include benefits such as a payroll tax cut, a return-to-work bonus, a $4,000 travel credit and an infrastructure plan. Major focuses would include unemployment and manufacturing jobs, two major problem spots for the country during the pandemic.
