The international brand is stepping up its charity efforts to fight racial discrimination.

Earlier in the month, The Pokemon Company International, managers of the world-famous Pokemon entertainment brand, donated $100,000 to the Black Lives Matter movement, followed by another $100,000 to the NAACP to show support for the ongoing protests.

Not long after this donation, however, one of the brand’s companion companies, Niantic, which develops and manages the popular AR mobile game Pokemon GO, announced that they would be donating a minimum of $5 million to charity from the digital ticket sales for Pokemon GO Fest 2020. This money would go toward a fund dedicated to Black creators of mobile and AR games, as well as several US-based nonprofit organizations.

In the face of such a massive charitable donation, The Pokemon Company had no choice but to step up their game. In an official statement made on the company’s Twitter last night, The Pokemon Company announced that it would be matching Niantic’s $5 million donation.

The company has not actually divulged what charities or organizations will be receiving this money, but in their tweet they said that it would go toward “organizations supporting education and mentorship opportunities for Black children.” In a follow-up tweet, the company clarified that a proper list of organizations will be released at a later date.

Pokemon GO Fest 2020 will be held worldwide from July 25 to July 26.
