Super Bowl Sunday is a ritual for a lot of people; a semi-official national holiday. A day to get together with friends and family, drink beer, and yell at the TV. Of course, as with any holiday, the food is an important part of the ritual. People have their Super Bowl specialties, and for a lot of people guacamole is a staple.
Avocado producers know that Americans love their Super Bowl guacamole. So it’s a major problem for the industry that they may not be able to get their product into grocery stores ahead of Super Bowl Sunday.
Most of the U.S.’s avocado supply comes from Mexico, which is currently experiencing a gas shortage. No gas equals no trucks to ship products into the U.S. Avocado producers are scrambling to find ways to get the avocados to the U.S. in time, but it may be too late.
Now just imagine your team loses AND you didn’t get your guacamole. A potentially dark day indeed.
