If you head on over to the Detroit-Hamtramack General Motors plant, you’ll see a picket line right outside.

The picket line comes as a result of the United Auto Workers (UAW) striking against GM for the fifth straight week. On Friday, the UAW sent a counteroffer to GM’s offer. If it’s approved, it would end this strike.

“GM’s got to get moving, they’ve gotta get moving. It’s as simple as that,” said one UAW worker to WXYZ.

GM confirmed to WXYZ that they received the offer and that it’s currently under review.

On Saturday, the union announced that workers who are striking will get an extra 10 percent bump in their weekly pay. Instead of receiving $250 per week, they’ll now receive $275 per week.

GM workers on strike also received a video message from UAW Vice President Terry Dittes.

“As you know, our issues are just. We are trying to provide a path for our temporary workers to become seniority workers. We are trying to secure healthcare that makes sense for our families and all of the people around us that we know and love. We are also fighting for higher wages and all that goes with that,” said Dittes.

As for GM’s final decision, there is still no word.
