Google has announced the release of “Code with Google” to teach young kids coding.

Code with Google is a new comprehensive computer science resource. Google announced its debut for educators to help teach coding to their students in a better, more efficient manner.

Code with Google provides a free curriculum and programs. It helps students to build their coding skills from a beginner’s level to advanced. But Code with Google is about more than just busywork and experimenting with different computer programs individually. The resources include potential scholarships, summer programs, internships and residencies.

Google also announced a $1 million grant to support computer science education across the United States via the Computer Science Teachers Association. This will ultimately help these teachers bring more computer science resources to the classroom and open up even more potential in their students.

According to a blog post from Google VP of Education and University Relations Maggie Johnson, “67 percent of teachers believe CS is just as important as other subjects, but many schools don’t offer computer science courses that include programming—and the ones that do are in well-resourced school districts.”

Johnson explained that Code with Google is the company’s next step in closing the gap in computer science education.
