Rideshare programs are attracting some dangerous sorts.

Riders need to employ more awareness about who their driver is and the type of car they’re riding in before they step foot into a vehicle they believe is waiting for them.

A woman who posed as an Uber driver robbed a man she picked up from a downtown hotel in Nashville. The man was just waiting for his ride while watching the rideshare app outside of his hotel. It turns out that that was the wrong person.

Police say the victim was picked up at a hotel off of 5th Avenue and realized something was wrong when he realized they were not going in the right direction. A few blocks away, they stopped and a man got into the back of the vehicle, put the victim in a headlock, and said “Don’t move or I’ll snap your neck.”

They took $200 from the man, his credit card and his hotel key.

The suspects weren’t too careful about the crime they just committed, though. Police were able to track down a male suspect who was seen on video surveillance using the victim’s credit card. However, the female driver still has yet to be apprehended.

The next time you use a rideshare program, always be vigilant about determining exactly what the make and model of the car is, as well as the name of your driver.
