This volunteer team is fighting for the consumers.

A few consumers experienced a string of bad luck including having an Amazon account hacked, a faulty car repair, and paint quickly chipping off of a house. These complaints soon turned into refunds and solutions, thanks to ABC’s Let Joe Know Better Business Bureau volunteer team.

When Kelly took his car in to get repaired after it kept making a repetitive thumping sound, he thought the problem was taken care of. But shortly thereafter, he heard additional noises that were anything but normal. Kelly said the shop wouldn’t fix the issue, so he informed the Let Joe Know team at ABC 15 about the problem. Volunteer Roy spent months going back and forth with the shop until they finally relented and gave Kelly a $349 refund check for the repair.

Another consumer issue happened when Jim opened up his Amazon account, only to find that someone from Indonesia had been ordering things under his name. Jim canceled his credit card, but he says he was docked $900 for music and e-books that he did not purchase himself. With Volunteer Grant on the case, Jim was able to get the $900 in purchases transferred in addition to a $500 Amazon gift card for his troubles.

The last consumer complaint this week came from Steve. Steve had an issue with his paint contractor, who would not fix the cracked paint spots on the garage door and the fading spots on the building. Despite a two-year warranty, Steve wasn’t getting anywhere – and that’s when he called in the big guns. Volunteer Jessica was able to get the painter and supplier to repaint the appropriate areas of the house.
