Baltimore Police are still searching for a suspect in the fatal shooting of Morgan State University student Kevon Dix.

Dix was 21 years old and a music major at the College of Liberal Arts.

Police say Dix had just finished studying with a friend when he was fatally shot on his way to his car. The incident happened in the 400 block of Mary Ave. around 10:30 PM Wednesday night.

Dix’s mother, Annette Dix, told local news stations that nothing was taken from Dix, except his life. She believes he may have been mistaken for another person. Dix was a popular student and loved to sing. His mother says he wanted to become a vocal coach and a professional singer.

Morgan State University President David Wilson issued a statement on Facebook stating, “We extend our most sincere condolences to the Dix family and ask that you keep them as well as other family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.”

Chairperson of Fine and Performing Arts Eric Conway also expressed his condolences on Facebook. “Please pray for the Morgan choir and entire community as we absorb this tragic loss. To be a black man in Baltimore!”

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact local police or the Crime Stoppers hotline.
