Vaccinated patrons are free to remove their masks in the park.

Following in the footsteps of California’s official full reopening and removal of most pandemic restrictions, Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California announced earlier in the week that they too are dialing back the pandemic safety measures, at least for those who are fully vaccinated. As of yesterday, all visitors to the park who are fully vaccinated (which means two shots of Pfizer or Moderna or one shot of Johnson & Johnson) will be permitted to enter without any kind of face covering. Entry gate temperature checks and social distancing mandates are also being discontinued.

However, there will still be some masks in the park. All cast members will still be required to wear face masks until further notice, and while those who have not been vaccinated may enter the park, they must wear a face mask, and understand that they enter at their own risk. Children age 2 and up who have not been vaccinated are also required to wear a mask. As far as verification of vaccination goes, Disney has merely asked guests to “self-attest that they are in compliance prior to entry,” or in other words, work on the honor system. While many Disney fans are excited about the relaxed mandates, some have expressed concerns that not performing any manner of verification of vaccination means that unvaccinated people will simply lie about their status any remove their masks anyway.

Besides the in-park measures, attendance at Disneyland does still require a prior online reservation, and masks are required on shuttle bus transport. However, with this relaxing, this is also the first time in over a year that out-of-state patrons will be permitted to enter the park.
