The raging fire that consumed the roof of Notre Dame Cathedral yesterday has finally been quenched.

Investigators are ruling out arson as a likely contributor to the fire that broke out at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France. Sources are saying the fire, which claimed much of the roof and the spire of the centuries-old building, was accidental. While no officials seem to be completely sure about what caused the fire, they are working to fortify the building. The cathedral was undergoing renovations when the fire broke out.

CBS reports that there were no deaths and only one firefighter was injured in the blaze. There was a small saving grace, though. While most of the building’s roof was destroyed (two-thirds to be exact), the Medieval stonemasons built such strong fortresses that the main walls of the massive church were spared.

Given that Notre Dame is hundreds of years old and is one of Europe’s most iconic and historic buildings, talks of a reconstruction project are already underway. French President Emmanuel Macron is rounding up a Cabinet meeting tomorrow to discuss how to move forward. The project already has two French billionaires who have pledged $300 million to rebuild the cathedral.

Vatican spokesman Alessandro Gisotti said Pope Francis was “close to France” and was offering prayer to those who needed uplifting after the devastating fire.
