Google employees can relocate with no justification required.

Since the overturning of the Roe v. Wade ruling last week by the United States Supreme Court, multiple state legislators have already signaled their intent to outlaw the practice of abortion completely within their bounds. Larger businesses with multiple offices around the country have begun extending support to employees who may find themselves affected by these bans.

Google released a company email following the Supreme Court ruling reminding employees that they can apply to relocate to one of their other offices, and that they do not need to provide any kind of justification in doing so. This is not a new policy, but Google wanted to remind any employees seeking relocation for health reasons that the company will aid them in doing so, no questions asked.

“Equity is extraordinarily important to us as a company, and we share concerns about the impact this ruling will have on people’s health, lives, and careers. We will keep working to make information on reproductive healthcare accessible across our products and continue our work to protect user privacy,” Google said in their email, which was obtained by The Verge.

“To support Googlers and their dependents, our US benefits plan and health insurance covers out-of-state medical procedures that are not available where an employee lives and works. Googlers can also apply for relocation without justification, and those overseeing this process will be aware of the situation.”
