New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is apparently considering retirement after this Sunday’s Super Bowl. When asked point blank whether or not it will be his last game he very bluntly said, “I don’t know.” He went on to say he was focused on what he needed to do this week.

Gronk has experienced health issues and injuries, including struggles with his back. At 29, it wouldn’t be unreasonable for a player to retire from the NFL, but when compared to his quarterback Tom Brady – who is 41 – it might be considered a little early. Tight end and quarterback are two completely different things, though, with different types of effects on the body. And with more and more evidence of what the hard impacts football players experience do to their brains, it would be understandable to want to exit before it gets worse.

As of right now, Gronk is non-committal. We’ll have to wait until sometime after the big game to know if it is his last.
