It may not be Jobland, where jobs grow on jobees, but it’s pretty close.

If you’re a job seeker in the Taft area of California, you’re in luck. Today, Job Fest is kicking off in Taft at The Historic Fort. Dozens of agencies and businesses will be making their way there for this event from 9 AM to noon PDT.

Job Fest started in Kern County in February. All of the employers that are there are actually ready to hire on the spot and eager to acquire new, qualified employees.

A local news crew spoke with one of Job Fest’s employees, “Josh,” to figure out more about the event and why they offer so many opportunities to job seekers.

Josh said, “We just love being able to connect the dots between the employers and the job seekers. A lot of times people just apply online and they think their application just goes away but we’re bringing the employers – the HR managers – here today.”

He says this is a great opportunity for those who have already applied to some of the companies that will be at Job Fest. If that’s the case, they can walk up to that specific agency, let someone know they’re checking on their application, and get an interview on the spot.

Everything from skilled professionals, to laborers, and “everything in between” are featuring available positions.

Josh explained the difference between job fairs and Job Fest: “A job fair is you typically see a lot of resources mingled in with the employers – maybe some schools, trying to continue education. Here at Job Fest, we focus on job seekers. They’re looking for work. They don’t have time to go to school because they need money.”

At Job Fest, they don’t merely stack resumes. They only have positions that are available today.
