The legendary frontman needs a ticker tune-up.

Last week, classic rock group The Rolling Stones announced that they would be postponing their upcoming North American tour to an unspecified date. The reason given was that frontman Mick Jagger needed to recover from an unspecified illness.

Today, the illness was elaborated upon: Mick Jagger will be receiving heart valve replacement surgery in a medical procedure set to take place in New York this Friday, April 5th. The group has assured its fans that this is a very simple procedure, and Jagger should make a full recovery in time for the band to restart the tour some time this summer. “We apologize for any inconvenience this causes those who have tickets to shows but wish to reassure fans to hold onto these existing tickets, as they will be valid for rescheduled dates, which will be announced shortly,” the band posted on their Twitter.

Jagger was upset about the postponing of the tour, posting on his own Twitter “I will be working very hard to be back on stage as soon as I can. Once again, huge apologies to everyone.”
