The trailer for the fourth movie in Pixar’s Toy Story franchise was released today, and it looks like an absolute blast.

The next installment was announced several years ago, and Pixar has a lot to live up to with every one of its new films. The first Toy Story movie was critical to the studio’s success, being their first major film and ultimately a blockbuster hit when it was released in 1995. The next two movies were also critically acclaimed, as are most of Pixar’s films, but some were skeptical that another would bring any more to the table. But after seeing the new trailer, we believe that the film will be fantastic.

What’s really great about this trailer is that the movie appears to not only be for those who grew up loving the series, but it will have lots of new things for a younger audience. In fact, one of the overall themes of the movie seems to be how the things we love can transcend generations. The new movie picks up where the last one left off. Bonnie is now Woody, Buzz, and the others’ kid, but the trailer also starts off with something we’ve never seen before: the old toys meet a new toy, but this one was made by Bonnie out of a spork, pipe cleaners, and googly eyes.

This film will have a new setting, with at least part of it taking place at a fairground. There also appeared to be some borderline creepy toys in an antique shop, which reminds us of the terrifyingly fun mutant toys from Sid’s room in the first movie. Overall, this new film appears to posses the same spirit of adventure, fun, and friendship of the other Toy Story films, as well as the emotional quality that really makes them great.
