Tulsa animals are being relocated to make room for animals displaced by flooding.

At the Tulsa Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), the first group of animals has already been loaded up to make room for the others coming in. More than a dozen volunteers were at the Tulsa SPCA to free up space for the many animals that don’t have a home because of the flooding and the water buildup.

The Humane Society of Tulsa and the Tulsa Animal Welfare are teaming up with the Tulsa SPCA for the animal transport. Collectively, they’re moving nearly 200 animals that were in the shelters before the flooding. These animals will be flown to Chicago to make room in the city shelters for displaced animals.

A temporary shelter has been set up at the Expo Square housing more than 100 animals during the flood event. The Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office is holding a pet supply drive for the shelter. You can drop off supplies such as food bowls, blankets, crates and toys.
