Reflection Park in Tulsa, Oklahoma has now been open for four moths in a neighborhood that witnessed one of the most violent crimes in the city.

Yesterday, news crews talked to neighbors who said they’re torn about the meaning behind this new park.

While some are on board with the idea of remembering the victims of the Bever family and the first responders who worked that night, others would have liked just an empty lot or a new home to take its place. They say the facility sometimes attracts visitors who are curious about what happened in July 2015.

A man who’s lived in this neighborhood for 24 years says it’s practical and he takes weekly walks in it.

“I think it’s awesome. It’s beautiful,” said long-time resident Bill. “You can come out at night and you can look at it. It’s quite the scene and I get to look at it every day.”

Just eight days ago, the oldest Bever boy who pled guilty to killing his two parents and three younger siblings was charged with assault and battery for allegedly attacking a staff member inside the prison. Robert Bever and his brother Michael Bever are serving a life sentence.

Neighbors say that whether they like the new Reflection Park or not, they are glad the old home is no longer in sight to remind them of the tragedy.
