Roger Stone, who is one of several of Donald Trump’s associates who will be facing trial due to the Mueller investigation, nearly got himself thrown in jail until his trial. The judge was fully within her rights to revoke his bail, but in the end she let him off with a stern talking-to and an expanded gag order.

The issue was a post he made to his Instagram account. The self-proclaimed provocateur and political operative posted a picture of the judge herself with a symbol next to her head that looked suspiciously like a gun’s crosshairs. The text of the post claimed that it was a show trial and pointed out that the judge had been confirmed during the Obama administration.

Stone said it was a random picture he found on the Internet and that he didn’t think they were crosshairs in the picture. He apologized for the mistake, but the judge wasn’t impressed. She scolded him and then expanded his gag order to restricting him from discussing the case at all in public. We’ll see if he’s able to hold off on talking for any extended period of time.
