A little girl who was taken from the University of California San Diego (UCSD) campus yesterday afternoon was found safe downtown.

Ultimately, she was taken away by officers, and her father was put into handcuffs.

The little girl, three-year-old Lael “Indie” Henry, went to school at the Early Childhood Education Center on the UCSD campus. That’s where her father, Earl Henry Jr., picked her up this afternoon. He was in violation of a probation order by doing that, which is what launched this emergency alert.

Police found a black Mitsubishi Outlander in downtown San Diego. Lael was found safe in the backseat.

Police say her father took her from the Early Childhood Education Center just before 2 PM. They issued an endangered missing advisory. They believe the little girl was at risk and asked for the public’s help.

But those fears ended eight hours later after someone spotted the SUV. The little girl was found and her father was taken into custody.
