Brady is retiring for good this time, a year after his previous attempt.

In February of 2022, legendary NFL player Tom Brady announced that he would be retiring from the sport after a long and illustrious career. This retirement, however, ended up being a misfire, as he ended up returning to the game a little over a month later and spending the season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Today, exactly one year after his previous attempt, Brady announced once again that he would be retiring from professional football, this time for good.

“I know the process was a pretty big deal last time, so when I woke up this morning, I figured I’d just press record and let you guys know first,” Brady said in a video on Twitter. “I won’t be long-winded. You only get one super emotional retirement essay, and I used mine up last year, so really thank you guys so much to every single one of you for supporting me.”

“My family, my friends, my teammates, my competitors — I could go on forever, there’s too many,” Brady added in his video. “Thank you guys for allowing me to live my absolute dream. I wouldn’t change a thing. Love you all.”

While the Buccs couldn’t make it to the Super Bowl this year, Brady still ends his career on a high note as the only player in NFL history to be on the winning team at five Super Bowls. In each of those games, he was also named an MVP.
