One of the biggest work forces in Boston may walk out of work.

Some employees at Wayfair are not happy about the company selling furniture bound for immigration detention facilities. While this is gaining a lot of traction online, no one seems to want to talk publicly about it just yet.

There are about 6,500 workers at the online furniture giant’s Copley Headquarters. A local Boston news crew reached out to 50 of them, who all declined to speak about the walkout.

However, The Boston Globe says more than 500 Wayfair staffers signed a petition, which urges company leaders to cancel the planned sale of $200,000 in furniture. That is, bedroom furniture ordered by a government contractor and destined for migrant camps on America’s southern border.

Some Wayfair employees don’t support the practice of detaining immigrant children seeking asylum in the US.

Their walkout earned props from local congresswoman Ayana Pressley. She tweeted, “I proudly stand in solidarity with the hardworking individuals at Wayfair who are walking out in the name of justice and humanity.”

Massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warren tweeted, “The safety and well-being of immigrant children is always worth fighting for.”

New York democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez added, “The walkout is proof that everyday people have real power as long as we’re brave enough to use it.”

Wayfair’s leadership has declined all requests for a response, but an arm for the Trump re-election campaign didn’t hesitate. They accused these Wayfair employees of trying to bully the sale, depriving kids of good beds to sleep in. The tweet called the walkout “heartless”.

According to social media banter, the walkout is set for 1:30 PM today. It won’t be clear how many Wayfair workers have bought in until it happens this afternoon.
