The organizers are concerned about running out of food and drinks.

This year’s Wimbledon tournament is in full swing, and the athletes all want to take home the top spot. As part of their daily preparations, the athletes are advised by their coaches about what they should be eating and drinking to maintain their stamina and strength. However, some athletes have been overdoing it a bit, raising concerns from the organizers of the tournament of food shortages.

Every competing athlete receives a budget of £90 to spend on food and drink from the various food stands in the athlete and visitor villages, with coaches also receiving about half that for their own budget. However, some athletes have been spending their entire budgets every single day of the tournament and taking more food than they actually need. According to The Guardian, one coach was spotted taking 27 probiotic yogurts to maximize their budget usage.

The tournament organizers have released a statement to the athletes and coaches, asking them to be “judicious” in their usage of their food budgets, rather than attempting to max them out every day. The organizers have clarified that this concern is not a financial one, but a simple practical one. The organizers want to ensure that the food providers don’t run out of food and drinks to offer both athletes and visitors before the tournament concludes, as a lack of food would definitely affect the athletes’ performances.
