The frozen pizza features Beyond Sausage crumbles.

Banza, the company that specializes in vegetarian substitute food products such as pasta, pizza, and rice, made an interesting announcement yesterday: their newest frozen pizza offering, the Banza Supreme, is being created in coordination with plant-based meat manufacturer Beyond Meat.

As is the case with Banza’s other offerings, the Banza Supreme’s crust is made from 100% chickpea flour, and is topped with San Marzano tomato sauce, a blend of mozzarella, provolone and white cheddar cheeses, red onions, and red and green peppers. In addition to all of that, though, the pizza is topped off with Beyond Meat’s Beyond Sausage Italian Crumbles, made entirely of plant proteins designed to mimic the taste and texture of sausage.

This new offering “enables consumers to enjoy the delicious taste of a traditional pizza with the added nutritional and environmental benefits of plant-based protein” a Beyond Meat Spokesperson told Yahoo Finance.

“This new Banza pizza offers a convenient and accessible way for people to try Beyond Meat, and we think fans will be excited about the combination of our plant-based sausage atop Banza’s better-for-you crust,” the spokesperson added.

Since Banza’s initial launch at the height of the alterate foods boom, they’ve secured a tidy profit for themselves, increasing their retail presence by over 300% and expanding into restaurant chains.

“In less than a year, our crust is selling faster than any other frozen pizza crust in grocery,” Banza CEO and co-founder Brian Rudolph told Yahoo Finance. “50% of consumers who purchase Banza Pizza in grocery stores are new to the frozen pizza category, showing that our chickpea pizza crust is filling a gap.”
