No patients or staff were injured in the incident.

After receiving reports about a burglary from a homeowner who lives just blocks away from Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, police were on the lookout for a male suspect. Police had already arrested a female suspect who was allegedly involved in the break-in, but her male counterpart fled the scene.

LAPD found out the suspect ran inside of a medical building nearby Cedars-Sinai hospital. That’s when they decided to put the Mark Goodson building on lockdown.

Police say that it was a complicated search because the building itself and the people inside were on lockdown, but they were careful to ensure the safety of everyone involved. Authorities also included that they followed proper protocol when it came to searching for the suspect. Announcements were made over the building’s PA system for the suspect to surrender, despite a lack of cooperation.

Local authorities swarmed the building and canines were even brought in to help locate the suspect. After three hours, police ultimately found him hiding near one of the storage units in the building’s parking structure around 3:30 p.m. Officials say he was unarmed.

Both suspects are now in custody. It is unclear what their bond amount is.
