Las Vegas has always been a city of movement. Never one to settle in and just go with the status quo, it is constantly growing and changing. They’re known to implode old landmarks to make way for new. It’s got to be one of the most consistently changing skylines in the country.

So with that pattern in mind, it’s no surprise that Las Vegas has big plans in store for the near future. This is particularly true for the part of Vegas known as downtown. Not to be confused with the strip, the downtown area is at the northern end of Las Vegas Boulevard, centered around Fremont Street. It’s considered less of a tourist draw and more of a place for locals, but of course tourists end up there as well. It used to be the run-down part of town but beginning a couple of decades ago, a long era of revamping has taken place.

Downtown has changed a lot over the years and more changes are in store. Most significant is the add-on to the Downtown Grand hotel-casino and the construction of a high-rise unlike any the downtown area has seen: Circa. Circa will be a very modern, flashy hotel-casino, more like those that you would expect on the Strip.

In addition to the downtown development, Las Vegas is adding on to its already world-class convention center and is also constructing stadiums in preparation for the Raiders NFL team and a baseball team as well.
