Another step in the long-awaited coming of ‘Space Jam 2,’ the sequel to the bizarre cult-classic crossover between the NBA and the Looney Tunes, has been confirmed: the movie will be doing all of its principle filming in California.

As it turns out, ‘Space Jam 2’ is one of 15 films to be selected for California’s new film and TV tax credit program known simply as “Program 2.” A fitting name in the land of sequels. Program 2 was instated to breath some extra life in California’s production industry, allocating tax credits to big productions to increase spending and create jobs.

‘Space Jam 2,’ in particular, received a $21.8 million tax credit, the largest of any film on the list. In a quote to Variety, Amy Lemisch, executive director of the California Film Commission, said “one of the goals for Program 2.0 is to bring production jobs and spending to regions across the state, and we’re beginning to see that happen more often and on a larger scale. We’re thrilled to see Program 2.0 have such far-reaching benefits.”

No word yet on when filming for ‘Space Jam 2’ will officially begin.
