Kenzie Reese’s family has turned their loss for their daughter into love for families who are experiencing exactly what they did.

In 2015, Mackenzie Reese was diagnosed with cancer on her second birthday. Her family lives in Paris, Texas and traveled back and forth to Dallas during her treatment. That can create a strain for some families, but today, Kenzie Reese’s family made a contribution to the hospital they hope will ease those worries for others.

Kenzie was just two years old when stage four neuroblastoma invaded her body. She fought hard for ten months before she succumbed to her illness.

Backed by her parents and doctors at Children’s Medical Center – Dallas, Kenzie’s bubbly and vibrant personality brightened the lives of so many during the short time she was here; a light that continues to shine even in her absence.

Her parents started Kenzie’s House when she passed away – a nonprofit aimed at helping families of children with chronic medical conditions who live far away from where they’re receiving treatment.

Today, in Kenzie’s memory and as a way of saying thank you for all the love they poured into Kenzie’s treatment, the parents presented the hospital with a check.

“To know that we are contributing to furthering treatments, or even furthering the comfort for the kids, or the toys for the playrooms, or whatever it is they may use it for, every little thing made the treatments more manageable, more bearable, easier and better for all of us,” said Kenzie’s mother.

So far, Kenzie’s House has been able to fund a trip to Disney World for one family as well as paying for hotel stays for others. Kenzie’s family says that is their goal – to help families focus on their children, while also creating memories.
